My name is Jodie, and I am trying to raise £300 to buy a new bingo machine for Armley Helping Hands.
They are a community organisation based in Leeds whose main focus is to prevent social isolation within the elderly community.
Through constant use their current bingo machine has now come to the end of its life, and I wish to help replace this to continue the great work Helping Hands do.
Why am I doing this? I am a documentary photographer with a particular interest in social interaction.
My family and I cared for my Nanna for ten years, helping her whilst she lived in our home. She suffered with Alzheimer’s disease, the same illness that affects many families at Helping Hands.
In remembrance of my Nanna and all of the people and centres who helped care for her, I want to give something back.
I am hoping to hold an exhibition at Armley Mills in December for my university project.
It will consist of my photographs and a publication which will feature the amazing people working and attending the events held at Helping Hands; and of course, it will be bingo-themed!
For any further information please contact me via email at j.holland8349@student.leedsbeckett.ac.uk, and I will be happy to answer any queries.
Whether it’s legs eleven or two fat ladies, any donation you can make will help make a difference. Thank you for your time, and I hope you consider helping our cause.
