Armley: Friendships blossom at men’s gardening project

A community gardening project is encouraging people to build friendships as well as planters.

‘Our Garden’ is a new men’s project for LS12 held every Tuesday morning at Strawberry Lane Community Centre in Armley.

It brings men of all ages together, including older people from Armley Helping Hands and people with mild to moderate mental health issues.

Our Garden aims to provide an impartial and safe space for adults to improve their mental and physical wellbeing, talk to other guys and grow confidence while growing fruit and vegetables.

No gardening experience is required. It runs every Tuesday morning.

More information from Russ on 07825 877134 or Armley Helping Hands on 0113 279 9292.

The project is also run by Touchstone and the NHS.
