Armley: Boys’ Brigade members make food bank donation

By Lou Cunningham

Members of the 11th Leeds Boys’ Brigade have made a Christmas donation of £300 worth of food to the Leeds North and West Foodbank. The money was raised through fundraising efforts in the 2022-23 session.

Accepting the delivery, Leeds North and West Foodbank CEO, Karen Burgon thanked the Boys’ Brigade and said that the food donations were greatly needed. She said that the lead up to the holiday time had been busier than ever.

Company captain, Darren Wilson, praised the community’s involvement. “Thank you to everyone who has supported us in this vital fundraising for such an important charity,” he said.

The 11th Leeds Boys’ Brigade have helped bring the true meaning of Christmas to the fore with this act of community kindness.

Anyone wishing to make donations to the foodbank can visit the warehouse Monday to Thursday, 9am-3pm, at Unit 3.3, Flexspace, Burley Hill. Call 0113 2444696. Anyone needing a referral to the foodbank can do so via any support workers, healthcare professionals or via CAB helpline on 0808 2082138.

The last referrals for the Christmas period will be taken on Wednesday, 20 December 2023.

The Armley session by referral is on Thursday 12pm-2pm at Christ Church. The foodbank will be closed from Friday 22 December – Tuesday 2 January.
