Exciting news! We are hosting the Festival of the Sea at St John’s Wortley on October 14th and 15th, writes DAVID CARTWRIGHT.
This will be a whole weekend of events, services, special features and fun for all the family.
The church will be resplendent in all manner of fishy themed displays from a range of local schools and community groups.
There’ll be a cafe, stalls, games and other things to do, as well as a raffle with great prizes.
Come to the church between 10am and 3.30pm on Saturday or 12 noon and 4pm on Sunday.
Our fantastic Messy Church will be happening on Saturday afternoon from 3-5pm, with a bundle of fabulous
crafts, art activities and messy fun all around the fish theme.
On Saturday evening we have a ‘Lobster Drive’ (think ‘Beetle Drive’) with a Quiz and Supper, tickets are just £3 and we get started at 7pm.
Sunday morning is Harvest Festival of the Sea at 10.30am – great worship and fun for all ages, with a ‘Songs of
Praise’ Service and refreshments (plus the big raffle draw) at 4pm.
It promises to be a really great weekend. Lots for everyone to get involved with and all in aid of church funds.
