Youth Music Theatre returns to Fulneck School for summer acts

A Pudsey school is to play host to scores of young performers during the summer holidays with the return of Youth Music Theatre UK.

The organisation – which trains young singers, actors, dancers and musicians and boasts Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith as alumni – will be making Fulneck School its Yorkshire base for three weeks.

From July 30 until August 5, YMT UK will be staging a summer skills course, then, two days later, rehearsals commence for “More In Common”, a contemporary dance musical.

YMT UK is a national performing arts company that specialises in creating brand new music theatre.

Fulneck School Principal Deborah Newman, said:

“The Youth Music Theatre is a fantastic organisation that not only gives youngsters the chance to interact with each other, but also helps to educate them more on theatre and what goes into making a musical.

“The courses also helps to develop the self-esteem of the future performers. The experience is perfect for anyone wanting to go into the performing arts industry.”
