Work starts on gable end repairs at historic Bramley Baths

Structural works on the gable end at Grade II Listed Bramley Baths are due to start tomorrow (Wednesday, 6 November).

Work on the Edwardian building, which dates back to 1904, will take six weeks but the Baths will be open as normal throughout.

Bramley Baths business development manager Jennie Willetts said: “The planning process has been ongoing for almost a year as we conducted in0depth inspections, consulted with conservation experts and Leeds City Council.

“This has been a lengthy process. We are now pleased to announce that the necessary structural work will be completed over the coming six weeks. All work has been fully approved by conservation planning and building control officers at Leeds City Council and is a necessary repair to the existing structure.

“We would like the members for their continuing support and we ask for patience while we conduct this essential work to ensure the longevity of the Baths and our heritage asset.”

Scaffolding will be erected on the interior gable end wall of the Baths, mirroring the scaffolding that is already on the external wall.

Full access to communal changing areas and poolside cubicles will still be available, and all services will continue as normal.
