Why Bramley Parkrun is for everyone

If anyone is thinking that Bramley parkrun is just for runners, inspirational Stuart Hobson is happy for us to share his story to show otherwise, writes Jean Hollings.

“20 weeks ago I started my park run journey – it took me over an hour to do.

“Twice I volunteered due to injury and illness and today I am proud to announce I have got my time down to under 50 minutes.

“I couldn’t have done it without the help and support and encouragement of the Bramley parkrun gang – let’s see how long it will take for me to get under the 40 minutes barrier, so thanks to everyone for egging me on. Oh, and thanks to my sister for chasing me down the hill to make sure I run every so often lol.”

We would love for people to come and try us out walk, jog or run, 9am every Saturday in Bramley Park. In September we will be restarting our popular Couch to 5K programme.

Saturday’s parkrun was made possible by 29 amazing volunteers. 202 athletes took part, of whom 32 were first timers and 14 different running clubs were represented. The windy conditions helped 46 people to gain a personal best.

Please remember to register, adding your details in case of emergency contact at www.parkrun.org.uk and print off your barcode.
