Whingate Primary has helped support families this Christmas by offering a turkey or vegetarian hamper, along with a board game for children.
This is the fourth year the Armley school has run this campaign and so far it has been able to help almost 100 families in need of support.
School office manager Bev Atkins said: “Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our parents, children and staff, they made it possible for us to be able to provide hampers to 24 of our families this year.
“We also had two anonymous donations, one of which has now donated £1,000 towards this cause for four years in a row! They paid for all of the turkeys, 14 individual gifts, bought 25 board games and paid for hot chocolate with squirty cream and marshmallows for every child in school!
“We would also especially like to thank one of our parents – Jayne Dear – who, along with her colleagues at Leeds City Council Contact Centre, made a very generous donation which enabled us to purchase all of the fresh vegetables plus more for each hamper.”
