One of the main road arteries into West Leeds – Whitehall Road – has been closed to traffic this afternoon following a major fire at a former printing factory.
The fire took hold at the disused Polestar Petty building just before 1pm today.
West Yorkshire Fire Service said they had 10 fire engines at the blaze, which is affecting 40 per cent of the building. No-one has been injured.
The blaze was under control by 2pm, although fire crews are still on site dampening down. It’s understood the building has collapsed.
Whitehall Road, Globe Road and Wortley Lane remain closed and commuters are being warned of severe delays in the city centre.
