Farsley Celtic will be looking to progress to the Third Round Qualifying stage of the FA Cup this weekend when the Celts welcome Scarborough Athletic to The Citadel.
League action will be put on pause as the FA Cup takes centre stage for National League North and South clubs, with the Celts coming up against fellow Yorkshire side Scarborough Athletic.
Farsley will be hoping to go further in the competition this season, after the Celts bowed out 3-0 at home to Fylde in a replay at this stage of the competition 12 months ago.
Clayton Donaldson’s side face familiar opposition in Scarborough, with the most recent encounter between the two sides coming in February of this year where Farsley recorded a 2-1 victory away at the Flamingo Land Stadium thanks to first-half goals from Tom Allan and Luke Parkin. Former Farsley favourite Frank Mulhern will be returning. to the Citadel for the first time since his summer departure.
The winners of tomorrow’s match will receive a prize of £3,375, as well as qualification to the Third Round Qualifying stage where the successful teams will receive £5,625.
Last Saturdaythe Celts were victorious away at Gloucester City where a first-half goal from George Smith earned Donaldson’s side a well-fought three points in soaring temperatures as well as a long coach journey down to Gloucestershire.
Speaking ahead of his first match in charge of an FA Cup fixture, Donaldson said: “FA Cup games are always special and it’s a great opportunity for us to play some big teams in the league so we will do all we can to try and get into the hat for the next draw.
“Fingers crossed it will be another entertaining game at home for our fans to enjoy as we look to build on the positive result from last week at Gloucester.
“Hopefully it will be a successful day for us, all the best to both sides.”
