Uncertain future for World’s End pub in Pudsey

A troubled Pudsey pub has closed its doors.

New owners only took on The World’s End pub in Booths Yard in December – but the pub has now closed, with reports suggesting furniture was removed from the building last week.

The pub has had a chequered history in recent years.

Members of Leeds City Council’s licensing sub-committee revoked its licence in 2016 after West Yorkshire Police raised concerns about ongoing incidents with anti-social behaviour, violence and drugs, as well as a firearms incident. The pub later reopened.

The closure has been met with sadness by pub-goers on social media.

Brad Holdsworth said:

“It needs a refurb and in the current climate and the way Pudsey nightlife is going you would have a right challenge getting your investment back.

“Be a brave individual to put big money into pub business these days. Shame though as it is a beautiful building especially downstairs…”

David Pearce added:

“Was once a fantastic pub – going back to the late 80s and 90s – Margaret, Malcolm and Barbara ran a good business – many happy memories and times with friends including our wedding reception. Like so many pubs it just fell apart. RIP.”
