Residents in the Rycrofts area of Swinnow have seen a number of improvements to give their estate a lift over the past few months.
New carpeting has been installed and other improvements to communal areas in tower blocks to new gardens, fencing alongside the border with Stanningley Road have been introduced.
One of the final pieces of these works, improvements to the parking area at Rycroft Place, is nearly complete.
Local residents – under the guise of the recently restored Rycrofts High Rise Residents Association – had said that communal and outdoor areas were becoming less appealing and in need of restoration.
Councillor Josie Jarosz (Labour, Pudsey) said:
“The Rycroft blocks are getting a new lease of life – it really shows what a lick of paint, some tarmac and other simple improvements can make.
“W know that people really love their homes in Swinnow, so we have to make sure that the outside of the properties matches the inside. Getting the work on the gardens, garages, communal areas and car park completed means people will have a more welcoming and better place to live.
“Seeing this come together has been really pleasing, especially as the Rycrofts High Rise Residents Association is now back up and running. We hope they will thrive and we look forward to continuing to work with them.”
