Swinnow: Carlsberg Britvic submits thermal tower plan

Plans to help decarbonise Carlsberg Britvic’s West Leeds site have been submitted by the drinks company.

A planning application submitted to Leeds City Council proposes to build a thermal 25 metre tall storage tower at the Britvic site on Intercity Way, Swinnow.

Proposals include a potential single storey enclosure for housing future heat pumps.

A planning statement submitted with the application states: “This forms the next step of Carlsberg Britvic’s strategic plan in delivering centralised plant systems and decarbonisation of the Leeds site.”

The application says the existing site consists of temporary storage enclosures, all to be demolished and relocated before the installation of the thermal store.

The plans can be viewed in full here.

Plans to build a single storey industrial building and associated rooftop plant at the Swinnow site were last week approved by the council. The full plans can be viewed here.
