Volunteers are aiming to ‘yarn bomb’ Armley Town Street in a bid to spruce it up – and are encouraging others to join them.
Armley Yarn Bombers group have previously produced knitted and crocheted decorations to spruce ups the main shopping area in Armley.
Last month they provided festive Christmas decorations and they put up hand-made poppy displays on Town Street as an act of Remembrance in November.
They are now planning one last yarn bombing project working with Armley Action Team. A spokesperson said:
“If you can knit or crochet and would like to help make anything ‘spring time’ to decorate Armley Town street at the end of march we have the yarn!
“Send us a PM to organise a pack for you It isn’t limited to yarn. Remember the plastic bottle bottoms? Well … they could be painted to look like a variety of flowers too.”
The project aims to bring people together and is being funded through the Welcome Back Fund which has been granted to Leeds City Council by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
This funding supports the safe re-opening of the local economy, helping to make Leeds a welcoming and friendly place for visitors, residents and businesses.
