Work started today on a much-needed facelift to flats in Rutland Court in Pudsey.
As well as work on the Richardshaw Lane flats, work is also due start next week to improve three-storey flats on Acres Hall Avenue.
According to Pudsey councillor Richard Lewis, who campaigned for the work, it’s the most significant investment since the flats were built. Cllr Lewis (Lab) said:
“The communal areas of these flats aren’t up to scratch and we owe it to the residents to improve them. That means we need to decorate, improve the lighting, replace the flooring and upgrade the electrics.
“At Rutland Court we’re also replacing the balcony railings which are well past their sell by date. Along with the external painting, this will give a real lift to the appearance of the top of Richardshaw Lane as well as improving things for tenants.”
