Police hare appealing for help in identifying a man who attacked a woman in Rodley earlier today.
At about 8.20am a 40-year-old woman was walking down steps towards the Leeds Liverpool Canal, close to the Leeds Outer Ring Road, when she was grabbed and dragged to the ground.
The woman struggled with her attacker and fought him off.
The attacker is described as black, in his late teens, about 5ft 6ins tall and of medium build.
He was wearing a khaki green or grey jacket which had the hood pulled up and grey jogging bottoms.
Detective Inspector Phil Jackson, of Leeds District CID, said extra patrols had been assigned to the area. He added:
“This was a very frightening incident for the victim, who was thankfully unhurt.
“Officers are continuing to search for this male, who we believe, approached a woman in her twenties a few minutes earlier.
“He is thought to have headed back up the Ring Road towards Rodley roundabout and then right into Oaklands Road, before doubling back on to Bagley Lane.”
Anyone who can identify the man can contact Leeds District CID on 101, quoting log *494.
