Rodley: Former Olive Tree restaurant could become nursery

A landmark restaurant in Rodley could become a 65-child nursery if plans are approved.

Plans have been submitted for the day nursery and a single storey extension to the lobby at Giorgio’s Italian restaurant, off Rodley Roundabout on A657 Rodley Lane.

The building was run as the Olive Tree Greek restaurant by restauranteur George and Vasoulla Psarias for 29 years until it closed in 2015.

They gave the keys of the former Victorian house to their son Solos, to expand his Headingley-based Italian restaurant chain Georgio’s.

New plans for the building have been submitted by Mr and Mrs Jowett of Town Street, Calverley. They’re the current owners of the proprietors of Calverley Village Nursery.

The proposals include 29 parking bays – an increase of five on the current layout.

Full details of the plans can be found here.
