Council planners have rejected proposals for a container coffee shop and vehicle charging zone off the Ring Road at Lower Wortley.
Applicant Mr F Al Fadhili hoped the space would provide parking for three vehicles on a small piece of overgrown land at the junction with Branch Road and deliver two full-time jobs.
The business would have opened from 7am to 8pm weekdays and Saturdau, opening from 8am to 8pm on Sundays and bank holidays.
But Leeds City Council planning officers refused the application, saying it would have been too close to neighbouring residential properties and the extra comings and goings would cause a disturbance. They also said there would have been an inadequate layout and parking facilities and added:
“The Local Planning Authority consider that the development is unacceptable as it fails to respect or enhance the residential characteristics of the immediate area and would by virtue of its appearance and function appear as an incongruous form of development on a prominent corner plot.”
According to a design statement submitted with the plans, the coffee shop container would be cladded with cedar boarding features and have a wide glazed entrance.
WLD first reported on the proposals last month. The plans can be viewed in full here.
