Now the days are getting colder, it’s essential that people eat nutritious, hot food.
With rising food prices and energy bills though, not everyone can afford to eat healthily – or have the knowledge to prepare a recipe from scratch.
Now you can if you live in Armley as the BARCA Leeds Better Together Team have a new project – the Recipe Station.
Every week, they are giving away a recipe for an easy-to-cook, winter warmer and all the ingredients needed to cook it
This week’s dish, for instance, was a vegetable and lentil stew. Ingredients were potatoes, mushrooms, onions, carrots, lentils, sock cube and herbs. The recipe card also gave suggestions for other ingredients that could be added.
The initiative began on November 1 and is on at the Armley Library and Community Hub, every Monday from 2-3pm.
It is not means tested but there is a short questionnaire to join the scheme. Food parcels are on a first-come-first-served, basis.
