Pudsey woodland racers sought by police

Detectives appealing for witnesses to a serious assault in Holme Wood say the suspects may have been seen in Pudsey woodland beforehand.

Officers were called at 3.38pm yesterday (Monday) to woodland off Scholebrook Lane to a report of an injured man in his 20s, who had been attacked by a group carrying hammers.

The victim has been taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects are believed to have been driving a red Mitsubishi Shogun car, and are thought to have been racing another red vehicle around Black Carr Woods, Pudsey shortly before the assault.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the vehicle driving in the area or saw it racing another vehicle to contact police. The Shogun has since been recovered by officers.

Anyone with information or anyone who saw the vehicles in the area should contact police on the online chat service or by calling 101, quoting log 1159 of 27/04.
