A former opticians in Pudsey town centre could partially become a cafe or estate agents after Leeds council approved a planning application.
The plans include a partial change of use from retail as well as plans for a new shop-front at the former AP Sparrow Opticians in Lidget Hill.
Approving the application, planners said the empty shop had been extensively marketed by the owners without success. A report approving the plans said:
“After 18 months of marketing the instructed agents have concluded that there is no demand for the unit in its current form and the market may respond to smaller units attracting lower overheads.
“The proposals will be appropriate and contextual to the shopping frontage in which the application units sits and no objections are raised by reason of harmful design or that the proposed end uses would be out of context.”
