Pudsey pub raises over £3,000 with Armed Forces Day fundraiser

By Carla Booth

The Royal Hotel in Pudsey raised £3,360 during its annual Armed Forces Day fundraiser this year. The money will go towards charities The Royal British Legion and Sapper Support.

The event held last weekend was free to enter and included a BBQ, outside bar, many fundraising opportunities including a raffle and live music from bands such as Angie and Campbell and The Publiners.

Torran Swallow, who works at the Royal Hotel, said: “The pub puts on an event for Armed Forces Day every year as it is a charity that is quite dear to the owner’s heart.

“It was really good this year, it was busier than other years. After Covid it has been hard for pubs to get people back in but this event went really well.”

Last year the pub had to postpone their Armed Forces Day fundraiser due to too many restrictions still being in place last June. However, they were able to host it at a later date in August instead.
