Outline plans to establish the principle of housing on a former industrial site in Pudsey have been approved by Leeds City Council planners.
Developer J Clifford, of Hilltop, has successfully applied for outline planning permission to change the use of the former Pudsey Plant Hire site off Lumby Lane into up to nine properties.
The plans were first submitted in March and have been reduced from the original 13 properties initially applied for.
A council planning officer’s report approving the plans concluded: “The proposal would deliver up to nine dwellings towards identified housing needs, to a brownfield housing site in a sustainable location amongst compatible uses, removing a somewhat less compatible use from an otherwise residential setting. This is a significant planning benefit of the scheme.
“The proposal provides satisfactory access to service a development of this nature and scale, improving the existing visibility splays to the site.”
As the application is only an outline to establish the principle of the development, all other matters – including access and layout – would be determined by a full application at a future date.
The site has been in use for handling building plant and waste materials since at least 1962 and the transfer of waste materials was confirmed as an established use in 1992.
The plans can be viewed in full here.
