Pudsey Carnival 2024: Parade times, fun fair and arena events

Pudsey Carnival returns for 2024 on Saturday, 18 May – and this time organisers are hoping to strike up a tune with carnival goers.

This year’s theme is musicals on the stage and screen, and a whole host of floats, bands and marchers on the parade will be looking to hit the right note as make their way around Pudsey.

The carnival will start as usual at 11.45am with the judging of the floats, and the parade itself will set off from Queens Park at 12pm, winding its way through Pudsey town centre, before ending on stage at 1pm when the new carnival queen will be crowned. Lowtown Primary School year 6 pupil Mollie Bairstow is this year’s queen.

This will be followed by live bands on stage and local groups performing in the main arena.

Schedule:

  • 1.15pm – Grand opening with the carnival queen, Leeds lord mayor and dignitaries.
  • 1.50pm – Floor act – Theatre Art, Amy Hall
  • 2.10pm: Stage act – Pudsey Grammar School performance
  • 2.30pm – Floor act – Irish Dancers – Jade Clibbens
  • 2.50pm – Stage act – Fulneck Choir.
  • 3.10pm – Floor act – Panache Gym
  • 3.30pm – Stage act – Music Box Choir
  • 3.50pm – Floor act – Lidos
  • 4.10pm – Stage act – Music Box band
  • 4.30pm: Final closing act TBC.

All the money collected from the parade will be used to maintain the ongoing costs for the 26 defibrillator units around Pudsey.

Pets Corner also returns this year, with various categories and stalls for four-legged friends. There will also be a host of community and food stalls, alongside the usual fun fair, Breeze play equipment and lots more.
