Car boot sales have long been important commercial and social community events.

Ivor Hughes visited the The Owl at Rodley’s occasional event on Sunday and found it with much potential.

£5 to stand with free entry. A bargain with plenty of room for more.
Displays from caterers included mouth-watering homemade cakes.
A Spectrum Rhumba harlequin patterned rug, 120cm x 180cm. Such a bargain at £15 it had to come home with me.
Another bargain. A clean Black and Decker lawn strimmer for £4. But I already had one.
Four for the usual retail price of one. Paintbox Yarns made from recycled T shirts offered at £2 per roll.
Small world. Organiser Shaun Fisher was selling these LGBT+ patches on the same day there was a Pride event at Hollybush Conservation Centre. Shaun is also owner and CEO of Stagelight UK and Gothica UK. He is also a band manager and promoter in Leeds.

The next commercial market at The Owl is on 21 September. Another car boot sale is intended in August.
