Perfect start to the season for Farsley Celtic Women with 10-0 win

By Josh Makin

Farsley Celtic Women started their new season in stunning fashion at the Citadel with a 10-0 thrashing of Kinsley Boys Ladies.

The Celts did not waste any time in opening the scoring and were ahead after five minutes through Demi Pringle who would go on to play a significant role in the match with four goals.

The second goal was added just two minutes later when Shirley Murphy tried her luck from range and found the top left corner with a venomous strike.

Pringle would then go on to claim her brace ten minutes later, when she capitalised on a loose ball in the penalty area before rifling the ball into the back of the net to put Farsley comfortably in the driving seat.

Next on the scoresheet was the captain, Lauren Rigby, who put in a shout for the goal of the day after smashing the ball into the top corner after a strike from 25 yards out which gave the Kinsley goalkeeper no chance.

Pringle then added Farsley’s fifth and claimed her hat-trick eight minutes before the interval after an audacious effort from outside the box flew over the goalkeeper and into the net to give Kinsley a massive mountain to climb.

The sixth goal was converted by Pringle straight from kick-off, while the seventh and eighth goals were buried by Murphy who claimed her own first-half hat-trick to give Jamie Sykes’ team an 8-0 lead at halftime.

The second half would go on to be a much quieter affair with both sides going through the motions, however, that did not stop Farsley substitute Emily Warbrick, who came off the bench to open her account for the season with a scuffed shot which crept under the goalkeeper to make it 9-0.

Warbrick then achieved her brace fifteen minutes later after bursting through the Kinsley defence before firing an effort low into the net at the near post to give Farsley a massive 10-0 lead.

Chances were then few and far between as the Celts sought to see out the rest of the match which they would do comfortably to get their season off to an ideal start with three points.

The Celt Army are back in action next week against Farsley Celtic Juniors Development.
