Plans to expand Leeds United’s stadium are yet to be approved as work continues to resolve parking and road safety issues.
Seating capacity at Elland Road would eventually rise to 53,000 under plans to redevelop the ground.
It was hoped a planning application for the scheme would be decided by a Leeds City Council plans panel on Thursday (Nov 27).
But the meeting won’t go ahead as the club and council planners look to finalise detailed proposals for the scheme.
A council spokesperson said: “We are working closely with the applicant with the intention of taking this to City Plans Panel at the appropriate time once outstanding matters have been resolved.”
The two-phase scheme would first see the partial demolition and redevelopment of the West Stand at Elland Road.
The North Stand would also be redeveloped under longer term plans for the ground.
An October plans panel meeting was told a travel plan for the project aimed to ensure no increases in on-street parking or traffic congestion.
It was hoped more fans would share cars to matches and use public transport. Pre-match closures of Elland Road were among the measures being considered.
The club, which returned to the Premier League this season, said the expansion would help address a 26,000-long waiting list for season tickets.
The council said the next two City Plans Panel meetings were scheduled for December 16 and January 8.
