Essential bridge maintenance works are due to take place at Owlcotes Bridge in Pudsey.
The work will include off-peak daytime closures on the slip road which takes traffic from the B6155 (Owlcotes Shopping Centre) onto the westbound carriageway of the A647 Ring Road. The slip road is predominantly used by traffic heading west from Owlcotes Shopping Centre.
Traffic on the busy A647 Ring Road will be unaffected by the works.
Works will replace the bridge bearings to the south deck of the structure and will last seven weeks.
The closures will be in place Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 2.30pm, starting on the 1 March and running until the 16 April 2021. The slip road will be open on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
A council spokesperson said:
“We have programmed the 2.30pm finish to eliminate any impact on school runs and congestion around Pudsey Primrose Hill Primary School.
“Further consultation will be carried out with Metro, Emergency Services, local businesses/residences and the Owlcotes Shopping Centre. We will also advertise the works through the Council’s press team and Twitter account, in addition to placing advanced warning signs on site.”
