‘In bloom’ groups, fun days, clean ups, park improvements and community events are all hoping to attract council funding at next Monday’s Outer West Community Committee meeting.
The committee is made up of councillors from Bramley & Stanningley, Calverley & Farsley, Farnley & Wortley and Pudsey wards, who will meet at Oak Church, Stanningley to debate local issues and decide grant applications.
Applications include Calverley in Bloom 2026, which is asking for £1,936.80 for ten baskets in Calverley Park, six baskets at Rushton Street/Thornhill Street and Mechanics Institute.
Farsley in Bloom 2026 would like £535.80 to supply, erect, and later remove 12 hanging baskets on Town Street.
Pudsey in Bloom 2026 is asking for £2,359.88 for 12 hanging baskets in Pudsey Parkland eight additional hanging baskets in Pudsey town centre.
Councillors will also decide Pudsey Carnival‘s application for £2,600 towards insurance and traffic management.
Trustees of the Lancasterian School Room in New Farnley have applied for £1,002 towards The Lancasterian School Rooms Go Digital project to build digital capacity by installing internet access and providing equipment for digital workshops.
Farnley & Wortley Fun Day would be a a free community event offering a wide range of activities and entertainment, along with stalls hosted by local partners. LCC Communities wants £4,000 to find the project.
A Bawns Clean up in Farnley could receive £1,200 and Summer Bands in Leeds Parks 2026 is applying for £3,720 too fund the following Summer bands in the park events:
- Two in Farnley Hall Park
- Six in Pudsey Park
- Two in Victoria Park, Calverley
- Two in Western Flatts Cliff Park, Wortley
- One in Westroyd Park, Farsley.
A grant of £6,800 is proposed for picnic tables and sign at Wortley Recreation Ground, and £9,472 for path improvements at Sparrow Park in Pudsey.
Youth activities requiring grant funding includes:
DAZL Farnley Programme 2026 has applied for £3,740 for sessions at Farnley Community Centre, DAZL Bramley Programme 2026 wants £2,530 for weekly dance sessions.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation Multi Sport Camp has applied for £8,354 for multi-sport activity camps for children and Leeds Youth Service has applied for £3,010 towards Holiday Provision 2026 in Bramley.
Leeds Youth Services has applied for £2,770 for rent and resources for weekly youth sessions in Bramley. Andy’s Youth Project in Pudsey has applied for £1,560 towards 39 weeks of room hire.
Farnley & Wortley Ward Football Project could receive £975. Outer West School Holiday Programme could receive £3,330 towards free school holiday trips offering physical, educational, team‐building and confidence‐building activities.
Sunny Bank Mills Youth Club has applied for £1,787.50 towards running a weekly youth club for young people aged 10–17. Leeds Community Tennis Programme in Calverley Park is asking for £996 towards two weeks of Summer Tennis Camps.
The Outer West Community Committee is made up of 12 councillors from four wards. It features seven Labour, three Conservative, one Green and one Reform councillor, along with community representatives.
