After a quiet couple of years, NAWRA (Newlay and Whitecote Residents Association) is back in full swing.
A recent AGM confirmed a series of events aimed to improve the local area for residents and visitors alike.
The first of these took place this weekend, when volunteers spent time preparing the community garden for summer planting.
The garden is on Leeds and Bradford Road, close to The Rock pub – it was previously a rubbish strewn patch of wasteland but has now been transformed over several years into a quiet green space offering refuge for local wildlife and a much improved view for those who live nearby.

NAWRA Chairman Roland Cross said: “It’s great when the community come together to work on projects like this. A big thank you to our volunteers.
“We are now asking for anyone who may have plants they are splitting in their gardens to consider donating them to NAWRA for use in the community garden.”
NAWRA will be back in action working in the garden between 10am and 12pm for the next two Saturdays (May 24 and 31).
Attendees are welcome to drop off any spare plants you may have or join in the planting. All tools and equipment are provided, and you will receive a very warm welcome.
If you are able to donate plants but cannot drop them off, contact Roland on rolandgcross@gmail.com to arrange collection.
