New Wortley: Grocery store in off licence bid

A Tong Road grocery store has applied for a licence to sell alcohol, and its application is set to be decided by councillors next week.

Carpatica 2 is based at 24-26 Tong Road and applicant Mrs Rand Hussein has applied to Leeds City Council to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises every day from 7am to midnight.

In her application, Mrs Hussain described the shop as a ‘small family business’ and pledged to meet all licensing and safety objectives suggested by the council.

There have been two objections against the application by local residents, and representations have been received from West Yorkshire Police and Environmental Health in their capacity as responsible authorities.

All the reports and documentation can be read here ahead of next Tuesday’s licensing sub committee meeting at Leeds Civic Hall (Tuesday, 7 November, 10am).
