A scheme to improve road safety by improving parking facilities for football teams playing in Swinnow have been given the green light by councillors.
Members of the outer west community committee approved a £1,600 scheme to remove current concrete bollards at an old housing garage site on Harley Walk and install new ones, including a drop-down bollard.
A council report said the scheme would allow footballers and visitors to park safely in the Hough Top area instead of causing issues parking on the streets. A drop-down bollard will also allow the site to remain secure when not in use.
The scheme was championed by Cllr Simon Seary (Cons, Pudsey) following feedback from community litter picking volunteers in Pudsey.
Two other funding applications for replacement and new litter bins in Pudsey and in Calverley & Farsley were deferred to allow an audit of street bin locations across the area and their usage to be carried out.
The outer west community committee is made up of nine councillors from the Calverley & Farsley, Farnley & Wortley and Pudsey wards. There are five Conservative councillors, three Labour and one Green.
