A group of volunteers who have been tidying up war graves at Bramley Baptist Church for the past decade are set to host an anniversary event.
Today (Sunday, August 4) saw the tenth anniversary of the Bramley War Memorial opening ceremony.
Volunteer Ian Johnstone said: “This prompted us to form a group of volunteers to look after the war graves in Bramley Baptist churchyard, which at the time had been neglected for many years and was overgrown, rubbish all over and drug users in there on a regular basis.
“Since that date many improvements have been made to the graveyard and the war graves tended every fortnight and kept looking tidy. Litter picking is also carried out.
“After 10 years of looking after the war graves and litter picking our next session is Wednesday, 7 August at usual time of 12.30pm. New volunteers are always welcome to come and join our friendly group.”
