A new clubhouse and community facility aimed at bringing people together has been officially opened.
Hard-working volunteers at West Leeds Amateur Rugby League Football Club have, over the past three years, been raising funds to build a new community club house following the closure of West Leeds Sports and Social Club in Armley.
The project is now complete, and the opening of the new centre was held yesterday by former Armley councillor James McKenna, who the centre is named after.
Trustee Samantha Nicholson said: “It will help the club grow. It gives the kids a home again, somewhere where they feel they belong, they’ve not had that for four years so getting this finished has been important to give them a sense of belonging in their community.”
