The future of Middlecross care home in Armley is up in the air again after senior councillors were today told to review their decision to close it.
Members of the council’s executive board voted last month to approve the closure of Middlecross, Siegen Manor in Morley, and The Green in Seacroft, and their associated day centres.
But cross-party councillors on the adult social services scrutiny board told the decision-making executive board to review its decision.
They said they were concerned about the quality of some private care in the city.
The council is looking to save more than £1.9m a year by closing the homes and contract the residents’ care out to the private sector.
