Meeting will help design family and early years support in Farnley

By John Baron

An open meeting will help shape a community-led early years and family wellbeing programme in Farnley.

Following the award of £20,000 to support families in Farnley, volunteers at Farnley Community Centre are looking to the community to help design a programme of support.

Peter Allison, from Farnley Community Centre, said: “With the closure of Farnley Children’s Centre we have an opportunity to create a truly community-led early years and family wellbeing programme — designed with local people, not just delivered to them.”

The meeting takes place on Thursday, 12 March, at Farnley Community Centre, starting at 6.30pm. Volunteers, parents and carers, group leaders, activity facilitators and anyone passionate about supporting young families are all invited – no experience needed.

“This will be an informal evening with refreshments and biscuits provided. Come along, share your ideas, and see how you could get involved.” Mr Allison added. “Together, we’re building something positive for Farnley families.”

For more information call 0113 460 4702 or e-mail info@farnleycommunitycentre.co.uk.

The funding comes from Leeds Community Foundation’s Flint Family Fund and runs for two years. The fund addresses issues including health and wellbeing and the education and learning gap for young people from different backgrounds.
