Man named after tragedy on Stanningley Road

Police investigating a fatal road traffic collision on Stanningley Road in Armley have released the name of the man who sadly died.

Terence Russell, known as Terry, died after a black Mitsubishi Shogun came off the road and hit a bus stop on Stanningley Road at around 3.13pm on Monday, 20 November. Terry was 62 years old. Two other pedestrians were treated for minor injuries.

Close friend Joanne paid tribute to Terry, saying: “Goodnight and god bless, rest in peace Tezza. You’re loved very much.”

The driver of the black Mitsubishi Shogun – a 57-year-old man – was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

The driver was also arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs, but he’s been since released without charge.

Officers would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time or may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident or the Mitsubishi Shogun driving prior to the collision to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 or use the Live Chat facility quoting log 964 of 20 November.
