Volunteers carried out the the first Kirkstall riverbank clean-up over the May bank holiday weekend.
The clean-up saw more than 4,600kg of waste removed from the riverbank, including rubbish and tyres, by volunteers. The event comes five months after the Boxing Day floods left parts of Kirkstall under water, affecting local businesses and houses.
The clean-up was followed by a special ‘thank you’ event celebrating the hard work of Team Kirkstall volunteers who have taken a leading role in cleaning up the Kirkstall Road area after it had been left under water when the River Aire burst its banks.
Below is how the clean-up and celebration went, via social media on the day.

The event is meant to be the first of a number of riverbank clean-ups in the area.
