A new group of Kirkstall residents, businesses and local councillors has successfully applied to the council for designation as a neighbourhood forum.
The Kirkstall Neighbourhood Forum has been formed to prepare a Kirkstall Neighbourhood Plan, which gives local residents better control over new development and greater influence over the spending of local funds.
The plan will also help to consider ways on how to tackle some of the major issues affecting Kirkstall, including traffic congestion.

The forum aims to cover an area including the whole of Kirkstall Ward (shown above).
The group has been formed under the Localism Act, which allows communities to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan which could influence local planning and other local issues.
Full details of the Neighbourhood Planning Process can be found on the Leeds City Council website.
