Kirkstall floods aftermath: Riverbank clean ups continue

Local residents are being urged to help clear debris washed down the River Aire as part of the Boxing Day floods.

Nine months after the River Aire burst its banks as a result of Storm Eva, volunteers will be meeting at Ready Steady Store on Kirkstall Road on Saturday (September 17) to work on the stretch by the weir which is still clogged with washed-up flood debris.

Volunteers will be working from 10am until 2pm and will be treated to lunch afterwards.

The clean-ups are organised by Team Kirkstall, a group set up in the aftermath of the floods which left parts of Kirkstall and Leeds city centre under water.
