Road users are advised of potential delays this Sunday when a large vehicle carrying a 335-tonne load comes into Kirkstall.
The vehicle will be carrying a generator to be installed at Kirkstall Sub Station.
It will be travelling from Goole Docks to Kirkstall, due to enter Leeds from Junction 28 of the M62 at approximately 11am and reaching the site at Kirkstall at about 1pm.
Due to its size (it’s almost 70m metres long, more than five metres wide and weighs 335 tonnes) the vehicle moves slowly.
It will be escorted by six police vehicles to ensure safety and to co-ordinate any special manoeuvres required along the route.
The route the vehicle will take in the city 9anf through parts of West Leeds) is as follows:
M62 Motorway West bound at J28 Tingley, turn right along the A653, continue to the A6110 Ring Road (Beeston/ Wortley/ Farnley), turn left and join A647 Stanningley By Pass, turn right to B6157 Bradford Road/ Town Street Stanningley, turn left Swinnow Lane, turn right Broad Lane, turn right Wyther Lane and then left through the access gates to site at Kirkstall.
Road users are advised to use alternate routes where possible as its movement will cause significant delays. Latest details on road and traffic information can be found here.
The journey has been organised by National Grid with approval from West Yorkshire Police and Leeds City Council.
