Leeds Steampunk Market has been held at Leeds Industrial Museum, Armley Mills. Ivor Hughes visited on Saturday, the first day of two

Steampunk? There is no shortage of differing definitions, all correct in their own ways. The term was coined in US the 1980s and referred to a lifestyle sub-culture based on Victorian colonialism, fashion, industry and more recent science fiction and fantasy. The images here tell more than words can.

The event continues on Sunday, 6 October from 11am until 5pm. Next Leeds event to be announced on social media and here in WLD.

Anything goes. Accessories including vintage luggage, redundant film cameras, tourist souvenir tobacco pipes and belts of spent bullets.
Top hats and brass goggles are standard parts of many steampunk uniforms.
Some steampunks adopt new identities for the duration of events. Here stallholders Lord and Lady Artemis Lock and Load (of Leeds).
