A West-Leeds group of knitters and crocheters are currently getting lots of requests to make items to keep people warm this winter.
People are preparing to wrap up rather than turning the heating on. Members of Hookers and Clickers Do It For Charity are making ponchos for older, vulnerable people which will be given out by Armley Helping Hands.
Hats, gloves, scarves are being made for Bramley Care Bears to give out to adults and children as part of their foodbank.
The group is making and supplying blankets to Leeds Baby Bank to keep families warm. Lots of poppies have been made for Farsley Rehoboth to sell to raise money for RBL.
Hookers and Clickers has just partnered with Full Circle funeral homes in Bramley. They have requested lots of twiddle muffs to give out to people with dementia.
They will be having a “hook up” at the Full Circle funeral home (the former Globe pub in Broad Lane) on Wednesday, 26 October 2022 from 9.30am to 11.30am to make twiddle muffs, with the aim of becoming a regular fortnightly event.
Refreshments will be provided.
Do you have any buttons, zips, beads, bits of jewellery etc to sew onto the muffs? Contact hookersandclickers@gmail.com.
Hookers and Clickers still has a regular Tuesday group at Butler’s Cafe at Kirkstall Forge, which runs weekly from 9.30am-1pm. All welcome.
Anyone is welcome to join them at Full Circle to make twiddle muffs or just go along for a cuppa and a natter.
