Green light for apartment above former Pudsey town centre bank

Former first floor office space above an empty Pudsey bank building will become a four-bedroom flat, after the plans were given the green light by council planners.

The former HSBC Bank, at the corner of Church Lane and Robin Lane, has been empty since it closed its doors in October 2020.

The planning application – submitted Mr F Al Fadhili, of Church Court (Morley) Ltd – will feature sound-proof flooring and that all habitable rooms will have large windows with adequate natural light. Parking would be in the former bank car park at the rear.

Approval comes with the condition that the applicant receives written approval for the provision of bin stores and access for their collection.

The application also confirmed that separate proposals for a coffee shop below the new flat are still active. WLD last month reported that the former banking hall space below the proposed flat had been put back on the market for £35,000 a year rent, or available to buy for an undisclosed sum.

The banking hall area has been has been stripped out, ready to receive a new tenants’ fittings. Full details can be found here.
