A £10,000 grant scheme to deliver community activity in Burley Park has been launched this week.
The grants scheme is run by independent charity Love Leeds Parks and will distribute the funding to deliver community-led activity in both Burley Park and Harehills Park.
The programme allows community groups to apply for up to £1,500 to facilitate events in either park. The scheme follows a consultation by Love Leeds Parks to find out what people want to see in each park.
A Love Leeds Parks spokesperson said: “All activities will be open to the public and free of charge for entry. We are particularly keen to hear ideas co-produced with members of the local community and those seeking to bring new users into the parks.”
Priorities for Burley Park include
- Live music;
- connecting with nature;
- social gatherings;
- health and wellbeing activities;
- activities for children/young people;
- and community art.
Community groups and charities are being encouraged to bring their ideas to life as part of Love Leeds Parks’ broader vision for everyone in Leeds to have a green space that they love on their doorstep.
