Plans to create two balancing ponds and a drainage dyke at Fulneck Golf Club in Pudsey have been given the green light.
The golf club, which was founded in 1892, wants to introduce a drainage system to allow it to move towards a more self-sufficient approach to water management by creating two ponds for the collection and storage of surface water, reducing the need for water supply from Yorkshire Water.
It will also help in flood alleviation, reducing the amount of surface water that will end up in Pudsey Beck, to the south of the golf course.
Between the two proposed ponds, a weir is to be created to allow water to flow to the lower pond from the upper pond to equalise water levels.Â
