The first Good Stuff Armley event asked the question: ‘what is good in Armley?’. It got people together under one roof and celebrated all the positive stuff that goes on in the inner city suburb. Here’s a short post from the organisers detailing some of the conversations the event has led to, ensuring there’s now even more ‘good stuff’ happening in Armley …
We’re [already] cooking up the next date and will be back to those of you who expressed a desire to take on the Good Stuff Baton..
We came away totally full of energy about the people doing fab stuff in Armley and the Facebook group was abuzz with ideas and events. Do check it out as there’s talk of community choirs, farmers markets, hippo puppets, walking tours with a difference and more.
We enjoyed a night recently at Cafe 53 who put on a fantastic tapas event, and plan to do more, if you’ve not been then we recommend you get along.
Armley Common Right Trust also have a Facebook page, if you are interested in volunteering they meet every first Saturday of the month at Charlie Cake Park 12pm. It would be great to see new faces
The Real Junk Food Project warmly invite anybody from Armley to come to their sister cafe at Santiago’s in Leeds Grand Arcade for a Binner Party on the 2nd July…Maybe we should take an Armley Trip out?
West Leeds Life is hosting an event next Tuesday at Bramley Lawn to scope out the next steps of an independent media for West Leeds. Please do come along and add your thoughts or enthusiasm to proceedings. Book here
Playful Leeds have their shipping container Playbox in Charlie Cake Park and are currently planning on running a weekly Lark in the Park BBQ on Fridays 6pm -8pm . Open to all ages they promise to get the fire lit and the balls and boules out in return for your company and help with the turning of the bangers. It’s a BYOB (banger/beverages) type event and all donations towards their play fund gratefully received (to buy more play stuff for people to enjoy through summer)
The Armley Town Street Revival Plan survey is here if you would like to add your views and suggestions to the consultation.
On another note we’re enjoying Armley resident Sam’s regular recordings of her trip to Armley Town Street.
And finally we welcome new resident Lorna to the area who said hello to us on Facebook! Wouldn’t it be ace if we could do something lovely with local estate agents every time somebody new signed a lease or moved in? What could we do to welcome people to Armley?
Over to you, we’re hopefully going to get a blog sorted and an email list, but in the meantime do go to Facebook for regular updates, chat and idea sharing!
All the very best
