Farsley Community Church was full for the annual Shoe Box Service, with representatives from the Farsley uniform organisations present.
It was mentioned that the shoebox collection originally started in 1969 after some Rotarians in the North West were involved with orphanages in Romania.
From there is spread throughout the UK in Rotary Clubs – including the Rotary Club of Calverley.
Last year over 50,000 boxes were distributed to Eastern Europe through the Rotary Network to schools, orphanages, hospitals etc.
Thanks to people around Farsley and surrounding area about 120 will be picked up and taken to the warehouse in Oldham.
