It’s seeds were sown on Facebook – and on Monday the first meeting of the new Farsley in Bloom group will draw the green-fingered to help improve the village.
The idea of a Farsley in Bloom group comes from villager and professional landscape gardener, Rob Hyde.
Mr Hyde set up a Facebook group over Christmas and soon garnered more than 100 ‘likes’ on the page. He added:
“The next step is to get together at some form of meeting. From there we can, hopefully, find out if we have enough interest in starting a group.
“We’ll need people who are willing to on the “front line” helping plant, weed and maintain but also people behind the scenes who are practical with admin, fund raising and generally raising awareness.”
Farsley in Bloom’s first meeting is on Monday, February 6, at 7.30pm at Farsley Community Church, Old Fold, which is off Town Street.
Mr Hyde, who has sought support from neighbouring Pudsey in Bloom group, added:
“Try and persuade as many others as you can to come. This will only be a success if we get Farsley community to support it.”
Ideas so far include working with local schools and havuing hanging baskets down Town Street.
