Thousands of people are expected to line the streets as Farsley celebrates its annual Christmas light switch on and lantern parade this Wednesday (26 November).
Attendees can expect entertainment at the Main Stage off Andrew’s Court, with carols from the Farsley Village Singers and Breeze at 6pm. Funfair rides can also be found at Charles Street car park.
The parade will start at Farsley Library at 6.15pm, led by Santa’s Sleigh and a succession of homemade lanterns. The lantern’s this year will have a ‘Children’s Literature’ theme.
The light switch on itself will take place at approximately 7pm followed by ‘reduced noise’ fireworks to round off the event.
Attendees can also attend the night market held at Sunny Bank Mills car park and hosted by Farsley Farmers Market, which will feature stalls by local businesses.
Town Street will close for traffic at 4.30pm and re-open at 8pm. Charles Street car park will be closed all day to allow the funfair to be set up. Priesthorpe Road and Richmond Road will remain open to allow access around Farsley.
